YOGA

At JUNA, yoga is at the heart of all of our offerings, whether we are teaching an asana class, or leading a hike in the forest. We believe that the principles of yoga should be practiced beyond the mat, and transposed into our daily lives. That said, a body that has experienced the liberating benefits of a physical practice will undeniably be able to assimilate these teachings more profoundly and flow through life with more ease. This is why we have included 2 daily practices, including pranayama (breath exercises) and meditation on each day of the retreat. We know that when we feel good in our bodies, hearts and minds, the rest follows! Our yoga teachers will guide you through a variety of practices, allowing you to explore different teachings and techniques. We offer a variety of postures and accommodate all levels of experience.

SUP

Located at the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Lawrence, the Magdalen Islands are a perfect playground for stand up paddle boarding, also known as SUP! For this retreat, we will be practicing our paddling skills on a beautiful quiet bay a few steps away from our retreat home. If you are new to paddling, worry not, you will get an extensive introduction to the sport and have the opportunity to practice certain techniques on land before heading out into the water! All equipment necessary for this activity is included, but if you prefer to bring your own wetsuit and booties, please feel free to do so. For this excursion, we will be paddling out with experienced paddler and local mermaid Cindy from Cindy Hook. We can assure you, you’ll be in great hands!

COACHING

It isn’t everyday that we have the chance to connect and exchange with other women in remote retreat style settings. This week will be an incredible opportunity to do this, and to crack your shell open and share your thoughts, dreams, fears, and how you wish to align your life. Our female empowerment workshops are designed with core values in mind, and as a group, we will dive into how these values can inform our deepest desires and goals. These sessions offer a precious time to dig deep and unearth your fullest potential as you face realities of what it means to be a woman in 2021. Bring a journal and pen - wild colours welcome!

LOCAL CUISINE

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” ― Hippocrates

For this retreat, we are thrilled to have Chloé Ostiguy, a certified naturopath, incredible cook and owner of the restaurant l’Archipel in Cowansville as our on-site chef! Chloé will be preparing all of our meals, from sunrise to sunset, with healthy, local ingredients that will nourish and serve our bodies for all our daily activities.

Be sure to include any allergies, intolerances or food preferences (vegan, gluten free, lactose intolerant) in your booking form.

CULTURE & EXPLORATION

Although the Magdalen Islands is an ideal destination for its beautiful beaches and breathtaking scenery,  it is also a harbour for exceptional farm-to-table cuisine, creative artistic expression in all its forms, and a rich and inspiring cultural history. For this reason, we have blended different workshops into our schedule so that you can get a direct experience with the local community, whether it is through a cooking class with local ingredients, a distillation and foraging workshop with local plants, or an interactive conference with a world-known deep sea diver. Upon leaving, you will be nourished not only physically, but intellectually as well, and feel a strong sense of community within our group, as well as with the Madelinots.
